On July 8, 2021, the Tianyuan Building in Hangzhou held a mobilization conference and signing ceremony for the “Golden Leaf” initiative to establish green hotels in Zhejiang Province. The hotel’s leadership team and managers at or above the department head level attended the event.

In his mobilization speech, Zhu Hong, Secretary of the Party Branch and General Manager, stated that the hotel should actively implement the concept of green development by aligning itself with initiatives such as the re-evaluation for five-star status, the establishment of a benchmark “Golden Key” hotel, and the creation of enterprises meeting Zhejiang Province’s quality hotel standards. Guided by the principles of green practices, energy conservation, environmental protection, and health, the hotel aims to successfully complete its mission of becoming a gold-level green hotel. First, we must attach great importance to this effort ideologically and uphold high standards and strict requirements. Second, we need to strengthen organizational leadership, refine division of labor, and assign clear responsibilities to specific individuals. Third, we must enhance scientific overall planning and develop long-term strategies. Fourth, we must intensify publicity and guidance to build Tianyuan’s signature green brand. Focusing on the goal of high-quality hotel development, we will encourage employees and guests to enhance their awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection, shift away from traditional consumption patterns, and embrace green consumption.
Weng Jianqing, a member of the Party branch committee and deputy general manager, provided detailed arrangements and clear divisions of labor for the creation work. He pointed out that building green hotels is not only a response to the government’s call and a way to safeguard the ecological environment on which we depend for our survival, but also a form of social responsibility. Hotels must uphold the concept of sustainable development, deepen the construction of green hotels, adhere to green management practices, promote green consumption, protect the ecological environment, advance energy conservation and emission reduction, and achieve a win-win situation in both economic and social benefits.
The work objectives include gradually reducing energy consumption and resource use; continuously improving the hotel’s environmental performance; implementing improvements in areas such as environmental protection, energy conservation, pollution prevention, and promoting green consumption and green procurement; carrying out publicity and promotion activities for green hotels, encouraging hotel consumers and suppliers to participate in the implementation of green hotel initiatives; and raising the standards for atmospheric pollutant emissions from hotels. To advance high-quality, sustainable development of the hotel industry, the branch secretary, general manager, and heads of all departments have signed responsibility agreements to further strengthen accountability.
