Vigorously building a “significant window” is the key direction that Hangzhou Tianyuan Building—a state-owned enterprise hotel—has been pursuing. Since March of this year, in accordance with the action plans and deployments issued by the Party committees at the central, provincial, and municipal levels, Tianyuan Building has fully implemented and carried out a series of activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and studying Party history. Drawing nourishment from the study of Party history, Tianyuan Building takes “building first-class service quality based on integrity and leading the quality of Tianyuan’s services” as its core working philosophy and “establishing itself as a benchmark hotel within the Golden Key International Alliance” as its primary work objective. Through these efforts, Tianyuan Building is comprehensively enhancing its service quality and striving to create a unique hotel culture brand.

Study Party History, Understand Ideology

Recently, the Party branch of the Tianyuan Building in Hangzhou has, based on actual conditions, adopted an innovative approach: establishing Party study groups, with Party members taking the lead and department managers serving as mentors to guide self-study among all employees, thereby sparking a surge in enthusiasm for studying Party history. The secretary of the Party branch stated: “We must integrate Party history education with hotel operations, closely link department managers with their subordinates, foster coordinated efforts from top to bottom, and work together to deepen and effectively implement Party history education, thus driving the hotel’s comprehensive, high-quality development.”

On the morning of March 25, 2021, the Party branch secretary of Tianyuan Building delivered a special Party history lecture to all Party members and mid-level cadres, with the theme “A Century—Still in the Prime of Youth.” In addition, the Party branch of Tianyuan Building has provided Party members with study materials such as books on Party history. Through methods including department managers leading study sessions, Party member pioneers taking the lead in learning, and hotel staff engaging in self-study, the branch has made full use of morning meetings to carefully study materials such as the interview record “Xi Jinping in Zhejiang” and “On the History of the Communist Party of China.” The branch also convened an expanded theoretical study center group seminar to exchange and share learning experiences, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and appeal of the study efforts and ensuring that all Party members are fully covered without any omissions.

To further strengthen the coordinated efforts between different levels within Party branch work, more concretely organize and promote Party building-led business operations, consolidate the leading role of Party members, adopt a “point-to-area” approach, integrate points and areas, carry forward the glorious tradition of “building branches at the company level,” implement the Party’s requirements for strict self-governance and comprehensive governance of the Party, comprehensively enhance the organizational strength of Party branches, reinforce the political functions of Party branches, and fully leverage the role of Party branches as fighting fortresses, the Party branch of Tianyuan Building has established Party groups and signed target responsibility letters with both the heads of these Party groups and every individual Party member. Additionally, responsibility letters for Party member pioneer posts have been signed, thereby strengthening and perfecting the “three-level” management system and fully harnessing the exemplary and pioneering role of Party members.

In addition, to ensure a smooth and successful celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, the Party branch has attached great importance to this occasion and is firmly committed to preventing and resolving major risks in production safety. Adhering to a bottom-line mindset, the Party branch secretary, the general manager, and members of the leadership team—each at their respective levels—have signed, in a hierarchical manner, the “Responsibility Letter for Target Management of Production Safety and Fire Prevention,” the “Responsibility Letter for Target Management of Peaceful Social Governance, Petition Handling, Stability Maintenance, and Counter-Terrorism,” and the “Responsibility Letter for Food Safety.” These documents clearly define and assign responsibilities for production safety and safety management, specifying the safety responsibilities of each position and ensuring comprehensive coverage both horizontally and vertically, leaving no blind spots.

Study Party History, Uphold Our Original Aspiration

On March 31, on the occasion of Qingming Festival, under the leadership of the Party branch at Tianyuan Building, representatives from the Party, labor union, and Youth League went to the Zhejiang Memorial Hall of Revolutionary Martyrs to carry out an educational activity titled “Remember the Martyrs, Stay True to Our Original Aspirations, and Press Onward with Determination to Fulfill Our Mission.”

Before the solemn and reverent Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs, everyone stood in neat formation. As the national anthem began to play, all fell silent and sang together the National Anthem of the People’s Republic of China. The majestic voices conveyed each Tianyuan employee’s deep and heartfelt remembrance of the revolutionary martyrs. Facing the bright red Party flag, the Party branch secretary led the Party members and cadres in renewing their oath of joining the Party. The resolute and powerful words stirred up fervent emotions among the Party members, making them feel as if they had returned to the very moment when they first joined the Party organization, further strengthening their faith, ideals, and understanding of Party principles. Afterwards, representatives from the branch committee presented a flower basket to the revolutionary martyrs on behalf of Tianyuan Building, expressing the highest respect and admiration for these heroic predecessors.

As they stepped into the memorial hall’s exhibition rooms, everyone carefully examined the exhibits, recalling the heroic deeds and glorious years of the revolutionary martyrs who fought bravely and valiantly. Before each weathered photograph and every precious cultural relic, people lingered for a long time, undergoing a profound spiritual cleansing. Representatives from the Party, the trade union, and the Youth League all expressed that we should cherish the hard-won life we have today, take the revolutionary martyrs as role models, and carry forward their revolutionary legacy through concrete actions, thus upholding the noble sentiments of the martyrs—love for the country and love for the people.

Finally, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, a delegation of representatives from the Party, the trade union, and the Youth League visited the Zhejiang Art Museum to view the special art exhibition “Daughters of the Red Boat—An Artistic Tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.” The exhibition “Daughters of the Red Boat” vividly portrays the extraordinary journey, vibrant present, and bright future of Zhejiang’s women, who, under the guidance of the Party, have steadily advanced through the course of China’s revolution, construction, and development. The branch secretary stated: “As a state-owned enterprise, we must integrate our work with reality to carry forward the ‘red gene.’ On the occasion of the Party’s 100th anniversary, let us unite our hearts and minds, pool our strengths for further development, forge ahead with determination on this new journey, and build an even better and more outstanding Tianyuan Building—serving the nation, society, and the people, and writing a new, even more beautiful chapter.”

Study Party History, Forge a New Future

Starting from a new vantage point and drawing inspiration from historical lessons, we will integrate the study of Party history into our core work objective—building a benchmark hotel for the Golden Key International Alliance—thus comprehensively enhancing service quality. By reflecting on and summarizing our experiences through the lens of Party history, we will ensure that improvements in service quality are truly put into practice, laying a solid foundation for hosting the 2022 Asian Games. In doing so, we will showcase the charm of Hangzhou, highlight the sense of responsibility of state-owned enterprises, and strive to be at the forefront of providing services for the Asian Games.

Tianyuan Building has specially invited Sun Dong, Chairman of the China Golden Key Association, and the team from the Golden Key International Alliance to the hotel for a five-day special seminar and training session themed “Set New Standards, Strengthen Internal Capabilities, and Welcome the Asian Games,” thereby launching an initiative to strive to be at the forefront of Asian Games service provision.

Tianyuan Building is the only hotel in Hangzhou that is a member of the Golden Key International Alliance. To comprehensively enhance the professionalism of its services and strengthen service quality, the hotel is currently working to become a benchmark Golden Key hotel, conducting proactive training and preparing thoroughly for the Asian Games.

Break with tradition and embrace innovation. On March 16, Lei Fan, Marketing Officer of the Golden Key International Alliance, conducted a themed training session titled “New Thinking in Hotel Online Marketing.” All hotel managers at or above the department head level participated, learning about new approaches to online marketing and gaining insights into techniques for leveraging the internet to enhance hotel reputation and visibility—providing both guidance and inspiration for hotels to open up broader channels for attracting guests.

Leverage our strengths to highlight our unique features. On March 17, Zhou Hui, Chief Quality Officer of the Golden Key International Alliance, conducted training for employees of Tianyuan Building on the composition and operation of the hotel’s signature products, aiming to develop Tianyuan Building’s signature hotel offerings that showcase the cultural essence of chess and highlight the charm of Hangzhou to guests.

Highlight key elements to drive product development. On March 18, Hangzhou Tianyuan Building, in collaboration with the Golden Key International Alliance, held a “Thematic Cultural Product Series Seminar.” During the meeting, the heads of Tianyuan Building’s Front Desk Department, Food & Beverage Department, and Housekeeping Department each shared their respective thematic cultural product planning proposals for their respective business segments.

Professional refresher training to drive continuous improvement. On March 18 and 19, Mr. Li Bo, Operations Director of the Golden Key International Alliance, conducted a series of specialized training sessions for all members of the hotel’s Golden Key team, covering topics such as Golden Key service reception, on-the-job training, and personalized butler services.

Identify gaps and ensure effective implementation. Zhu Hong, Party Branch Secretary and General Manager of Tianyuan Building, emphasized that by studying the Party’s history, we must remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind. At this new starting point in our Party’s century-long history, we must always bear in mind the hotel’s original aspiration, continuously enhance our quality, and manage our operations effectively, thus setting a strong foundation for the hotel’s 12th Five-Year Plan. Secretary Zhu urged every Tianyuan employee to conduct thorough summaries and self-reflections, identify their own shortcomings, and earnestly implement comprehensive improvements. We must integrate the reception standards for the Asian Games into our daily work, taking the benchmark hotel initiative—creating a “Golden Key” standard—as a key driver to truly elevate our service quality and lay a solid groundwork for the 2022 Asian Games.
